I think one of the biggest problems that Philippine society has to take care of is consistency, or lack thereof. A lot of ventures start out mightily, boldly, only to fall into the ningas cogon trap that has plauged us for many, many years. When, I ask you and me, will we stop?
We always find some convenient excuse to draw the blame (or part of it) away from us. Are we that conceited to think that no faults can be seen in us? Are we that uninspired that we let the fires in us go cold at the first moment trouble's ugly head peeps at us? I'm not saying that all of us are like that, after all, there are bound to be a few good fruits in this wastebasket of a nation we're living in. It just seems that as I get older, the idea that we've got nothing going for us becomes more and more of a reality.
Right now, as this post is getting read by you, the divide among us is growing steadily. Not the divide between the can-haves and the can't-haves, but the divide among those who know, and those who don't. The 'educated' and the uneducated.' Regardless of the condition of living, rich or poor, the divide doesn't slice through the space between 'B' and 'C.' It slices through society in broken lines. It exists in the offices in Makati, Ortigas, and all the other cities. It even exists in our own families.
As I see it, it stems from the basic educational(?) system(what system?). Everything. Even the way we were raised by our families.
Wrong, misleading, and lack of education, are causes of:
lack of sound morals (I believe this should be tackled by schools objectively, not religiously)
lack of anticipation, foresight, and planning
indifference
corruption
our penchant for being "manggagaya"
and so on goes the list of wrongs our society actively participates in...
It's sad to know that this post (if and when read) won't be reaching all segments of society. Probably only the A and B segments. If only we could find a way to effectively deliver the message that we, as a nation, need to change for the better, to the C and D segments. The segments comprising most of the 'don't knows.'
Now, what did that have to do with consistency? Everything. If we, from the start, were consistent with our choices, our desire for something good and better. If we were consistent with dealing with the problems that came our way by just doing what was right and what had to be done, then we wouldn't be in this mess.
Think so?

Is it just me, or do we still seem to be idolizing the United States and it's culture? Not just in entertainment, but in ways of thinking and living as well (and see, I'm writing in english!) For example, leather pants (sorry, had to.) If that's not impractical then I don't know what is. You live in a hot country, and you go out in pants that make you even hotter by dehydrating the lower half of your body (no, I've never tried, but I have a friend who can attest to that.) Quite impractical.

1.29.2005
As I said earlier, I have a feeling that 2005 is going to be a lot better. So why not help push it along right? So this first quarter, we're making the first step towards the realization of a dream. It's not much right now (they say that you should always start small) but I think it should set the pace and get the ball rolling.
Mhm...
It's gonna be good.

I was just in the bathroom finishing up when I found out that there wasn't any soap in the dish, searching around, I noticed on this shelf above my head a little pink bottle. The bottle read "PH care, intimate wash." I figured that rather than bother anyone else with fetching soap, why not use it... so I did.
Hehe... mabango pala yon. Hehe...
